Blue Water has just started using the world’s strongest reachstacker – lifting capacity 152 tons

For Blue Water, the world's largest reachstacker fulfils a long-felt desire for flexible lifts at the very heavy end of the scale. As an alternative to cranes, the new reachstacker will help with the heavy lifts of wind turbines, nacelles, frames and structures in close interaction with Blue Water’s other heavy-duty machines:

"Now we can handle the heaviest lifting and transport tasks by combining our equipment for the various tasks. For example, we can lift items up to 250 tons with the world's largest reachstacker at one end and one of our 100-ton reachstackers at the other end - or operate with extremely heavy items hanging on the hook. Thus we are geared to future transport tasks", says Søren Messmann, General Manager for the Port Services Division at Blue Water Shipping.

The world's largest reachstacker is the result of a targeted development work between supplier N.C. Nielsen and Blue Water. The ever bigger and heavier wind turbines, the carrying capacity of the soil of the storage area, new types of lifting gear and the request for the hook being able to reach the ground were among the technical challenges.

25 Jul | Mortenson to Expand Wind Energy Production in Iowa for MidAmerican Energy Company

Mortenson announced today it has been selected by MidAmerican Energy Company to build two wind farms in Iowa as part of the company’s Wind XI Project, a broader plan to install 2,000 MW of wind energy in the state by 2019. The new Arbor Hill and Ivester wind farms will be Mortenson’s 16th and 17th wind projects built in the state for MidAmerican Energy, adding 341 MW to Iowa’s substantial electric grid.

19 Jul | Port of Corpus Christi Grows Laydown Capacity

Port of Corpus Christi’s new laydown yard, Rincon West, received its first shipment of wind energy components on July 14th. Top wind manufacturer, Vestas, is scheduled to import nacelles, hubs, drive trains and blades for the Blue Cloud Wind Farm, located in Texas Panhandle counties Baily/Lamb. Rincon West will serve as the first point of rest for the imported breakbulk cargo prior to components being shipped via truck to the job site. Developed by Tri-Global Energy, the 148 MW Blue Cloud wind farm is comprised of 19,000 leased acres of privately owned farm land.

18 Jun | Transportation Partners and Logistics Expands Capabilities with Two Crane Purchases

Transportation Partners and Logistics, LLC (TP&L) announced today that it has acquired two new cranes to further its reach in transporting of oversized and overweight cargo across the supply chain, including wind power and oil and gas projects throughout North America. These new purchases include a Liebherr LR 1300 SX crawler crane for its largest distribution center located in Garden City, Kansas and a Terex HC 285 crawler crane in its Enid, Oklahoma location, which was purchased through Wyoming Machinery Company. These acquisitions come as a result of the company’s visibility into future projects, such as wind turbines, where components are growing in size and will be to up to 62 meters in length as early as next year.
