Goldwind Australia announced today construction of the Cattle Hill Wind Farm will restart on site in the Central Highlands of Tasmania following bushfires in the region.

Goldwind Australia Managing Director, John Titchen, praised firefighters, host landowners, Hazell Bros and the community for their work in combating fires across the state, with a majority burning in remote areas and hard-to-access terrain.

“Tasmania Fire Service and many other parties together faced extremely hot and difficult conditions to ensure the safety of Tasmanians and to protect property and natural heritage. We are very grateful for their incredible work during this challenging time.” commented John.

Goldwind Australia Project Manager for Cattle Hill Wind Farm, Ronan Creedon, said the Tasmanian Fire Service have now approved access for construction work to recommence on site.

“Site staff will be recommencing on site this week. Work on site will focus on continuing the construction of the access roads between areas where wind turbines will be installed. Wind turbine foundations will continue to be excavated and foundations will continue to be poured.

“Gradco will be working to complete road works in the vicinity of the project area. The delivery of turbine components to the project site is aimed to start before the end of February. Installation of the turbines will be commencing in March.” commented Ronan.

Construction of Cattle Hill Wind Farm commenced mid-2018, with the project to be fully operational in late 2019. Approximately 120 staff are expected to be working on site this week, with up to 150 expected during construction peaks on site. Six of the permanent maintenance staff for the project have already been engaged, with up to 10 permanent maintenance staff required once the wind farm is complete.

Once operational, Cattle Hill Wind Farm will produce clean energy to power approximately 63,500 Tasmanian homes.
