The inauguration for the 400 MW Rampion offshore wind farm, located 13 km off the Sussex coast, took place today in Brighton. The project consists of 116 V112-3.45 MW turbines and is built on the foundation of good partnership and collaboration with E.ON Climate & Renewables.

“As the first U.K. offshore wind farm in our Channel, it was a magnificent sight viewing the Rampion wind farm from the inauguration event on the i360 in Brighton,” said MHI Vestas UK Country Manager, Julian Brown, in attendance at the event. “Rampion is the largest wind farm we have supplied in terms of turbine numbers, and it has been a pleasure working with E.ON. Our technicians are now established in Newhaven supporting the wind farm operations on an ongoing basis.”

The 116 turbines of the proven V112-3.45 MW platform have a long track record and will deliver solid performance to serve 350,000 British households with clean energy.

17 Jan | ACCIONA completely renovated wind farm service Spain

  • El Cabrito, located at Tarifa (Cadiz), goes from ninety 330-kW wind turbines installed in 1995 to twelve 3-MW and 1.5-MW machines of Nordex technology
  • The installation will produce 16% more clean energy with the same capacity (30 MW) as the obsolete wind farm
  • The renewal has reduced its environmental impact, as well as its visual and noise profile, and makes it easier for birdlife to fly through.

08 Jan | Nexans completes high voltage cable project to connect Kype Muir wind farm to Scotland’s power grid

The Scottish Government has set an ambitious target for renewable energy resources to meet 100 percent of the country’s gross annual electricity consumption by 2020. Large onshore wind farms will play a key role in meeting this target, such as the 88 megawatt (MW) Kype Muir wind farm, where Nexans has just completed a project to provide a 16 km 132 kilovolt (kV) underground grid connection for SP Energy Networks.
